The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) consists of the following academic Departments: Education, Kinesiology and Health Science, Leadership Studies, and Psychology. Additionally, the Practical Nursing (LPN) program is housed in CEHD.
In CEHD, students may pursue undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Education (PreK-3), Elementary Education (Grades 1-5), Secondary Education (English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Social Studies; Occupational Physiology (concentrations in General, Exercise Science, and Strength and Conditioning); Public Health (concentrations in Community and Public Health, Pre-Occupational Therapy, and Pre-Physical Therapy); Psychology (concentrations in General Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis). The College offers minors in Leadership Education and Development (LEAD), Public Health, and Strength and Conditioning. Practical Nursing offers a 12-month certificate program.
The CEHD offers eight degrees at the graduate level: The Doctor of Education in Leadership Studies (EdD; concentrations in Leadership Studies, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, and Health Communication and Leadership); the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (MEDCI; concentrations in Adult Education, Education STEM, Educational Technology Leader, English as a Second Language, General, Literacy and Reading, Special Education Leadership, and Urban Teaching and Leadership); the Master of Educational Leadership (MEDL; concentrations in General and Teacher Leader); the Master of Public Health (MPH); the Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis (MSABA); the Master of Science in Counseling (MSC); the Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (MSCRC); and the Specialist in School Psychology (SSP).
Mission
The mission of the College of Education and Human Development is cultivating professionals who are committed to diversity, critical thinking, and effective pedagogy. The purpose of the College of Education and Human Development is to prepare responsible professionals who will be leaders in their classrooms, schools, organizations, and their communities. We promote excellence in teaching, service, and research in an inclusive professional learning community. We believe CEHD is a place where faculty, staff, students, and community partners create and promote the following values:

Goals
The College of Education and Human Development is committed to the following goals:
- Provide instruction for future teachers, school-based service personnel, public health and exercise specialists, psychologists, counselors, behavior analysts, healthcare team members, and organizational leaders.
- Provide individualized advising and mentoring for students to guide program progression and career planning.
- Contribute to the university mission by serving on departmental, college, and university faculty and administrative committees.
- Collaborate and develop partnerships with schools and other human service agencies to provide effective field-based learning opportunities for LSUS students.
- Provide consultation and professional development at the local, state, and national levels.
- Contribute to professional organizations as members and officers.
- Conduct research to advance evidence-based practice in human behavior, instruction, leadership, and public health.
