The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Program is a 60-credit hour program designed for the individual who seeks a professional counseling career in rehabilitation settings. The mission is to educate and train students at the master’s level to meet qualified personnel needs of the profession of rehabilitation. The program is designed to prepare culturally competent counselors who specialize in working with individuals with physical, developmental, cognitive, psychological, and neurological disabilities and/or illnesses. Students will be equipped with knowledge, skills, and experiences to empower people with disabilities through the counseling process.

The Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Program has the following objectives:

To increase the student’s knowledge of the role and function of rehabilitation counselors
To enhance the student’s knowledge of the needs and associated resources to meet the evolving needs of individuals with disabilities
To prepare students to obtain professional licensure and certification in the profession of rehabilitation counseling
To prepare students to address professional issues in rehabilitation counseling through professional associations,
publications, and professional development
To prepare students to work in a variety of public and private settings in the rehabilitation counseling profession
