COUN 701 - INTRODUCTION TO COUNSELING

This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of counseling as a profession. It will introduce the student to the scientist/practitioner model and define the subject matter of counseling, the target population the counselor seeks to serve, the technical tools needed for practice in the years ahead, the current unresolved issues and controversies in the field, and how these will affect the theories and techniques in the future. Three hours of lecture or equivalent.
