ENGL 200 - INTRODUCTION TO LITERARY STUDIES

This course introduces students to the formal study of literature, and to trends in criticism and theory. Students learn techniques of close contextual reading, interpretive strategies, techniques of literary analysis, and strategies for writing effective analytical papers. The course also provides a hands-on guide to literary research, including Electronic databases and the Internet. Three hours of lecture.
