ENGL 685 - WORLD LITERATURE

A survey of literature representing Latin American, European, African, Asian, and Middle Eastern cultures. Covers mythology, folklore, and such ancient works as the epic Gilgamish, as well as works by more modern writers such as Flaubert, Chekov, Ibsen, Marquez, Achebe, and Kawabata. Assesses advanced critical thinking skills through scholarly reading and written analysis, as well as through oral presentations. Three hours of lecture.
